Prince William, Prince of Wales

A warm smile, an intelligent, albeit increasingly balding, head, and a strong sense of humanism: this is how Prince William, the hope of the Windsors, presents himself. And he finds ideal support in his family life with his three children and wife Catherine.

His family is his greatest support, and his wife is his childhood sweetheart

For instance, his wife Catherine, née Kate Middleton, stayed with Prince William from 2003 until he was ready to get married, with the exception of a temporary separation. While on vacation in South Africa in October 2010, the prince asked his sweetheart to marry him. This news was made public in November. In front of around 2,000 invited guests and roughly two billion television watchers, Prince William married Kate Middleton in Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. She has become Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, ever since. Or, to put it briefly, Duchess Catherine.

Three charming children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis

Since then, William and Catherine have opened a new chapter in the life of the British royal family: their son, Prince George, was born in London in July 2013 after three weeks of media hype, and their daughter, Princess Charlotte, was born in May 2015 after similar hype and at least two weeks of tense anticipation.

With the third child, things were a little calmer – although the no-parking zone in front of the hospital had already been in place two weeks earlier, when little Prince Louis was born on April 23, 2018, the press took a more relaxed approach. This was undoubtedly also due to the fact that it provided an excellent opportunity to write news about the wedding of William’s brother, Prince Harry.

From autumn 2017, it will be back at Kensington Palace, and from summer 2022, it will be at Windsor.

The family mainly lived in their country home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, and tried to avoid the media frenzy as much as possible. If the paparazzi went too far, angry letters were sent. In the end, the children were mainly photographed by their mother, who was a passionate photographer.

But after several years of peace and quiet in the countryside, the small family was forced to return to London in 2017. There, they have a comfortable apartment at their disposal – apartment 1a in Kensington Palace – even US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle visited the Cambridges there. The area around the palace has been made even safer, especially to protect the children from excessive curiosity.

His work in the royal family – with his own unique touches

William, Prince of Wales https://znaki.fm/persons/william-of-wales/ gave up his job as a pilot when he and Kate had to take on more responsibilities. They both handle it brilliantly (in the public’s opinion), and preferably together. Thus, William and Kate are considered an unshakable dream couple, but they recently had to overcome a serious crisis in the public eye. In March 2024, shortly after King Charles announced his cancer diagnosis, it was revealed that cancer cells had been found in Catherine’s abdomen. She underwent preventive chemotherapy, during which William supported his wife with all his might. Six months later, she completed her treatment and gradually resumed her public appearances. “It was awful. It was probably the hardest year of my life. Trying to cope with everything else and keep everything in order was really difficult,” William summed up, according to the BBC, on the sidelines of the Earthshot Prize award ceremony in South Africa. The illness they endured had a lasting impact on the family’s life — and at the same time sharpened their focus on what is most important: their shared happiness with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
